new 2007 ExxonMobil Baton Rouge ad campaign to focus on students as "Our Most Promising Natural Resource"

BATON ROUGE, LA – On Jan.15, 2007, ExxonMobil Baton Rouge launched a new local advertising campaign that focuses on Baton Rouge students in ExxonMobil’s partnership schools. It stresses the important link between ExxonMobil employees' volunteer efforts and preparing students, our most promising natural resources, for the future.

"The campaign involves our near neighbors by showcasing students who are excelling academically and have ideas about what they want to be when they grow up," explained Stan Vanderleeuw, ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Refinery manager.

"Today’s students are the future of our community, and they will help staff our operations in the years to come," said Vanderleeuw. "Much of our company's educational support focuses on improving student learning in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM areas), and this campaign shows that dedication."

ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Refinery and Chemical Plant employees partner with 10 North Baton Rouge schools through the ExxonMobil Ambassadors Committed to Education (ACE) program. In addition, employees of ExxonMobil’s northernmost plants in the Alsen, Baker and Scotlandville areas -- the Polyolefins Plant, Plastics Plant and Resin Finishing Plant -- partner with three schools located near these facilities. Also, employees of the ExxonMobil Port Allen Lubricants Plant partner with nearby Port Allen Middle School, working with the principal and teachers to help address the school’s needs.

In addition to focusing on the students, the ads also highlight several ExxonMobil Baton Rouge employees who volunteer in ExxonMobil partnership schools.

"We wanted to recognize our employee volunteers for their dedication in serving as tutors, mentors and role models for students," said Vanderleeuw.

The ads will run in Baton Rouge area print, billboard, and radio media throughout the year.
