Baton Rouge area - Community outreach

Near Neighborhood Outreach
Being neighbors means more than just sharing the same location. It means caring about the safety, prosperity and appearance of the shared neighborhood. To facilitate economic development in the communities around our facilities, we partner with organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), Urban Restoration Enhancement Corporation (UREC) and The Baton Rouge Black Chamber of Commerce.

To address neighbors’ concerns about crime and safety, we began acquiring abandoned property to assist in making the 70805 area a safer place. Structurally sound houses are donated to nonprofit organizations. We also work with Baton Rouge Green to plant trees in the area and collaborate with various agencies to support fire safety education.

We distribute two editions of ExxonMobil Neighbor News (ENN) – one for 70802 and 70805 zip code areas and another for the Alsen, Baker and Scotlandville areas. The quarterly newsletters provide information on our operations, the environment and neighborhood involvement, etc.

Through the Community Dialogue Group and Community Partnership Panel, our employees and management meet monthly with residents of North Baton Rouge to discuss topics such as safety, environmental performance and neighbor relations. The group’s membership rotates every other year.

We notify neighbors about any change or upset in our operations. To learn about our notification system, click here.
